Diner Date

"Don't you just love it when you come back to your table and your date is waiting for you." Everyone knows me primarily as a photographer in bodybuilding and fitness. Actually I also shoot projects of my own design for my own art. I am now working to make more of my other works available as art prints, notecards, and more.

This is one from a series I really find very fun, erotic but I think with more meaning and thought than the immediacy of the idea. I have never previously made this one available. But it is one of my absolute favorites. I love the look on her face and what it says about her own control of what she is doing, the caress of the dinette table and the play of dark shadows and the stroke of light coming from the back just allowing us to see.

My Favorite Kind Of Photography...

My favorite kind of photography; just going out and about somewhere with my subject and a camera and some film. Yes film. For this, a Canon 1v and Fujifilm Velvia. Simple!

Jake Sawyer... celebrity personal trainer, fitness model, bodybuilder. You have been seeing him in magazines and coming up in a new music video with Aitan. Also watch for him on billboards around London for the 2012 Olympics! Very Cool!

Which Came First?

Which came first? Photography or lifting weights in the gym? Well for me it was photography when I was about 9 years old and lifting when I was 12 years old. To this day those classic photographs we saw in the magazines years ago are still my favorites and yours too. All those photos you see of Arnold and others of that time are still the best. Photos before "photoshop", before digital cameras. I still shoot that way too when I can. One of my best subjects in front of the camera ever, Sean Jones, in the gym. Photographed by me on film with a medium format camera, no extra lighting either. I Love It!

And to answer the photographer questions... A Mamiya 645AFDII camera and Kodak Tri-X.

Muscle Beach Summer!

The place "Where Muscles Were Born"... Muscle Beach at world famous Venice Beach. And Jack LaLanne inducted into the Muscle Beach Hall of Fame. Can't happen anywhere else! It all starts again on Memorial Day weekend, the big shows of the Summer and the only bodybuilding show in the world that starts out with a United States Air Force flyover! Be there on May 28th... you will LOVE IT! 

Standing behind Jack LaLanne is John Balik, the Publisher of Iron Man Magazine. One of the most respected men in our world of bodybuilding and fitness and one of the most respected magazines!

Amateur To Pro At 46...

Just a little over a week ago in front of my cameras he was an amateur... Now he is a Pro! Congratulations to Mark Ebinger who picked up his Pro Card at the INBA/ABA Colorado State Naturals. And he did it on his birthday turning 46 years old. Looking good at 46 to say the least! Very cool Mark!

Three Times More Fun!

This is how you make a photo shoot three times more fun! Have three really fun people to photograph! Heather Grace, Mark Ebinger and Chris Reed, all from Colorado in front of my cameras in Palm Springs California.

I have to give a big Thank You to Chris for putting this together! Full of endless enthusiasm Chris planned it out on top of getting ready and doing the NPC Grand Prix just over a week ago. Doing Physique, getting in shape, this guy dropped 30 pounds along the way! WoW!

Coached by IFBB Pro Heather Grace was certainly the right way to go for Chris! Heather is now going to be next on stage at the New York Pro making her way into doing a debut Women's Physique. Very Cool!

And looking super amazing at age 46 is Mark Ebinger. Very impressive and on his way in a few weeks to stand on stage too! Looking Good!

The Now Famous Kelechi Opara!

There Is More!

Alright I know what you are looking at, but there is much more to this photograph! Of course Ying Tan looks phenomenal! However I have to tell you about the people who really make my photo shoots work so good.

First I did not shoot this photo. My assistant Clyde Sawyer shoots behind the scenes photos in between handing me cameras, working with props, getting us all water and so much more. He sets up my lighting and even builds sets. He is truly amazing.

Then there is Natalie Lyle who you see in this photo. The Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist who has been with me for something like four years now. Creative, dependable, she has developed an eye for the details that I see and watch over so closely. Even taking her turns in front of the camera, Natalie knows what I see and how it translates to having the model follow my lead.

Without Natalie and Clyde I would certainly still be out there shooting photographs, but they sure make my life in photography so much better and are the team who make it work for the personal portfolio shoots, advertising shoots and editorial shoots that you know me for! Thanks!

First Time!

First time out and picked up a 3rd place trophy! Duyen Ariss had worked very hard and never wavered front the diet and the workouts. Then stepped on stage for Bikini at the NPC Grand Prix and did good!
Then a few days later she stepped in front of my cameras and I could only say a jaw dropping WOW! 

My good friend Duyen Ariss, co-owner of Palm Springs Fitness with her husband and accomplished competitor too, Carlos Ariss. Very cool people, very cool gym!

I first photographed Laura when she became an Iron Man Magazine BodySpace Physique of the Month. Now you will find her featured and on the cover of the June 2012 issue of Iron Man Magazine! Well deserved... Congratulations Laura Bailey!

LAUNCH!

LAUNCH! The new version of my website went live recently at http://SecondFocus.com/ This is very cool because it sizes up to the size of your screen. So if you make your internet browser full screen, my photos will be full screen and I think they look good big!

For now there is just one group under "webBooks" called "My World". I will be adding more as I go along to more galleries. Next will be to update my Blog, maybe use a different format too. Let me know if there are any topics or other kinds of photos you would like to see.

“How can I help people? What can I do to make the world a better place?” "My heart raced as I was exposing my past to others..." Those were the words that really intrigued me about Ying Tan!

He plays jazz, he plays classical. He loves playing water polo, studying math and reading books. Planning on being a neurosurgeon. And then he looks great in front of a camera too! Zack Rhodes has got it going on! Very Cool!

I get to introduce you to a new and beautiful face in our world of fitness, Ying Tan from Saskatchewan. In front of my cameras fresh from a weekend of competition at the SABBA Provincial Championships and Inside Fitness Magazine Model search.

There is more story here...!! Growing up in hugely difficult circumstances led Ying to depression and she "ended up in the hospital after trying to end my life".

But that gave us Ying today! "Then it hit me – I can do that too! I can be an inspiration! All of these people climbed their way out of a dark and scary place in life; and by telling their story – they are changing/helping people lives."

Now beautiful and fit, Ying is a 4th year university student, karate student, volunteer, fitness model, and sole proprietor of “Roccabody Fitness”.

So go visit Ying Tan on her Facebook page and make the journey with her combined with her enthusiasm and excitement! Outstanding!

Maria Yvonne Bertrand... Model, Actress, Fitness Consultant. In front of my cameras which is pretty outstanding. 

You see, Maria has been a model who has appeared in the most prestigious of magazines in fashion photo shoots in exotic locations around the world. And she is an actress who has appeared in many movies you have certainly seen opposite some of the biggest stars. Just too good!
